Post 3: Failures into gifts

This is the most important mindset work you can do. When life throws us curveballs, it's up to our attitude of how well we bounce back from those setbacks and failures by looking at them as an opportunity for growth instead of a dire situation where everything will always be difficult.

When I've had my failures and I've been brutally heartbroken, it's hard for me to see the value in everything that has happened. The pain is real, but so too are the lessons we learn from them and how they can make us stronger. A lot people might think being hurt or experiencing a setback means you're never going anywhere - when really these things only serve as opportunities.

Let's talk about the first time my heart was broken.... When I was 22, my father passed away. It's not something you can prepare for - the pain is overwhelming and unfair because there are no warning signs that someone will die suddenly like this. I remember handling all these emotions on top of everything else in life: school work deadlines looming over your head while coping with losing one parental figure already.

It was a devastating experience. However, after some time had passed and the pain subsided from my heartache over his passing; one thing I ask myself was: how he would want me to live life without him so I decided to set up a crazy HUGE goal ..... I decided to go to Australia and learn English.

The journey to Australia in 2013 was not an easy one. I had many obstacles and challenges that put me down on my knees (I will leave it for another post). But I had the creativity and resilience to make that goal come true. This allowed me not only to arrive in Australia but also learn English, meet beautiful people and discover such an amazing culture and places in Australia. On top of that I traveled to Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, China, Taiwan and Japan the country that will play an important role later on in my life.

Now let's talk about the second time my heart was broken this time someone decided to quit on me despite the fact I gave up my family and my work for starting a new life in her country. I know intercultural relationships can be difficult to navigate, but today I'm gratefully because it inspired me to my second HUGE goal.... I decided to learn a language that doesn't have an "aplabeth".

Do you remember about Japan, well Japan opened the doors for me and with hard work the results are mind blowing. I found a work at Embassy of Colombia in Tokyo, then worked in the third largest e-commerce in japan and finally been awarded for a 100% scholarship to learn Japanese. Well japan not just opened the doors for me, it gave me one of the most beautiful 6 years of my life.

We all have moments in our lives where we question hard situations. These times usually come when the going gets tough, but this also can be a chance for us to look at what makes life meaningful and exciting again. The point I'm trying to make with my story about how "I set goals" is don't give up on yourself just yet; every challenging situation has potential gold inside of its walls if you take time out while healing during.

I truly believe a person's true potential is always unknown, I believe qualities are things that all of us can cultivate through effort, discipline and good habits. We all can always change substantially because at the end if change and grow are possible, then it also means that there are many paths to success.
